 Upgrading mufflers
What is the best kind of mufflers to run on twin 18 hp vanguard longtails that will give me more speed without breaking the bank

They like real 2 to 1 headers. Small tubes. usally custom built

Just saw your other post in speed talk. Your motors must be sitting on the governors to have mph that consistent. Get a tach

Custom homemade or gut the stocker. Mac is the only one who makes one for the 18 and its $475

I have the same motor and always wondered the same thing. What all do you have to do Bernie to gut a stock muffler?

Wanted a vroom/vroom stainless one for my Kohler 25 for a long time but dang expensive, bought a shotgun instead. The one will frighten the ducks out of the marsh, the other will bark occasionally but certainly kill more effectively. At least the stock ones have lasted a long while, of course I don't run salt/brackish water. On a longtail these better flow mufflers have a very limited return...
