Post Pd 36 clutch broken again - maybe..??
I just installed a new clutch on a 2009 36 horse motor and the magnets
on the top of the housing are broken off/breaking after only about an
hour on the new clutch. It appears the head of the rivets broke off on
the magnet that has now fallen off and one of the heads on the other
rivet for the magnet that is still in place is broken. I guess at this
point I'm trying to figure out both an immediate and long-term fix.
The most pressing issue is I have a buddy that shot a moose yesterday
that I need to go out and pick up. Since I don't completely
understand the purpose of these exterior magnets I'm not sure what the
implications will be when the second one falls off – will it prevent
the clutch from engaging? And if so, is there anyway to lock the
clutch so that it operates without neutral (i.e. the prop always
turning when the motor is running)?

Thanks much!

Its a Mag stop to stop the prop from spinning in neutral just like in a lawn mower application.
