Post Freedom Outboards!
I emailed freedom motors with a couple of questions. Figured i would share the response for those who are curious.

Mr. Castiglione,
Thank you for the inquiry and sorry for the delayed response. As you can imaging we have a large number fo folks asking a huge pile of questions. I will do my best to answer yours. If my answers are not clear or you want to follow up that is fine. It might be easier if you call or test me at 315-481-6520 for quicker responses.

1. Yes the motor will come with a full 5year warrantee. There will be a couple of potential exceptions based individual situations with regards to irresponsible behavior.
2. The prop is a true RH drive surface piercing prop designed and manufactured by Hopkins propeller service. We will be releasing pics of the prop very soon. The props will be 3 or 4 blade depending on boat and load being pushed.
3. The motor has 2 features not seen before on most outboards - It is designed to run above or below surface. The motor comes with a custom floating jack plate. This allow the motor to float free over obstructions very similar to a mud motor. We have hit solid objects at speed in excess of 30mph many many times. This is a very unpleasant experience for the operator but the motor doesn't mind at all.
4. The closed loop cooling actually will extend engine life not shorten it as the engine does not have scale build up issues or damage form salt. The radiator is mounted in one of three different box types dependent on customer request. Box 1 is what we call the hot seat it Is a 15x15x18 inch box designed to have a swivel seat mounted to it. replaces a normal pedestal seat base. 2 - a 15 x 6 x 18 box to be mounted anywhere in the boat the owner desires. The last box is a 15 x 30 x18 box to be mounted by some boat builders to replace the transom back cover between the float boxes and create the gas tank battery box in the rear of the boat.

I appreciate your thoughts on MMT and we will do that eventually but not at this point. We are focusing on getting the product ready to go and out to the dealers so folks can test drive and purchase them.

that response was great news. I hope all goes well for them. for a lot of folks it could be just what they need.
a 40 or 60hp outboard that I can run in weeds/lilies and not have to worry about the pizzer stopping up would be a good thing.

I guess we will see.........

Well here is a scary thought y'all prolly need to know about Steve bush was the guy's name that owned Orion mud motors, pretty sure this is not a good thing due to I waited for two years for him to get a motor out with reverse and him telling me that yea it's almost ready another two weeks (eat your heart out) . If this is the same guy don't look to be able to trust anything he says

they all do that, look how mudbuddy put people off for years only to make a motor that broke off the boat before u got to the landing.

the best thing you can expect out of this is that it puts pressure on the major mudmotor manufactures to keep building a better, more powerfull mousetrap. irreguardless of how this outboard does.

The closed loop system on a 60 merc would do everything I needed to do.

When I emailed him asking about the motors, he instructed they do not recommend hitting stumps at high speeds. I guess he changed his mind on what you caneed hit and how fast.

I mean really its a bad idea to hit stumps with any motor wide open on purpose. They all have a certain number of licks in em before something is gonna break. I hit one last year about this time at 30+ with my gtr and when it came back down my trim housing broke so my motor went ALL the way down. Not the best feeling

No its not the best feeling to hit one wide open, but the lake I run you either hit stumps or take an hr and half idling to you spot.
