 Re: Copperhead cruising
I don't know, but I pick up my 12hp Copperhead Saturday and I am putting it on a 1244 built by Rick Aucoin, hopefully by the end of next week I will be able to answer that question

 Re: Copperhead cruising
My 12 hp custom rig on a 1242 ran 22-23 in shallow with 2 folks.
Been around a lot of little rigs and haven't seen too many faster than that.

 Re: Copperhead cruising
I completely read this wrong. I thought you said it was a 23hp copperhead on a 12ft jon... No way in hell a 12 hp copperhead is pushing two guys at 25 MPH REGARDLESS of boat.

 Re: Copperhead cruising
Had a 1448 with 18hp and it would run 24 with my fat ass, dog and gear. If the guys are smaller I could see low 20s. Sometime more motor doesn't equal mo speed. Depends on the set up. He must be running GatorGlide them copperheads will run, lite strong motors.

 Re: Copperhead cruising
The 12hp has a 10 1/2" prop, not that it means anything, but it looks ridiculously big on the small motor

 Re: Copperhead cruising
Sometimes a foot or two more in length will help a small motor plane out a boat but not necessarily give more speed.

 Re: Copperhead cruising
I wish I could handle a 14' or bigger boat. The places I want to use it require me to slide it down a river bank or launch from dry land and I will have to manhandle the boat back up and on the trailer.

 Re: Copperhead cruising
I found this video on YouTube, I couldn't find any specifics about the boat, but it looks about like a 12 footer, he repeatedly shows the GPS reading 23mph and there is just the one guy in the boat https://youtu.be/4ekyx3zwl6A
