I run the stump filled lakes of East Texas and the bottom of my Gatortrax 1750 is beat up. It has already had filler and steel flex in it and it is chipping off too affecting my performance. I was thinking about putting poly on the bottom of it but don't know if it would work with all the dents already in it. I was wondering if you could fill all the dents and hooks and then put poly on it so it would hold up in the stumps and I would get some of my performance back. I'm very happy with my boat just trying to fix it instead of getting a new one. Had anybody ever done this? If so how is it holding up and anyone have any idea how much it costs? I've done some researching on here, but haven't found much information about how it holds up in stumps. Any information would be appreciated

have the same issue with my rig from rocks. a sheet of poly will help with impacts but any fillers you use can un-bond from the metal. My rig is currently at a spray shop getting a 3/16" of polyurea coating on the bottom. Picking up on Friday and then coating with GG. Best of both worlds.

Would it be worth it to you to have a new 3/16 bottom installed? Mine sure is capable of taking a hit.

I figured being a round chime, it would be hard to replace the bottom, but would be nice to have a 3/16 bottom. Anybody know how much it would cost to replace the bottom with 3/16 or if it could be done?

Round chine boats are usually one piece hulls so you can't really replace just the bottom.

As I already stated above, even on a 3 piece hull, it would not likely be cost effective. Its easier to build a new boat and sell the old one as is.

Poly will flex with the bottom. My dads airboat is all 1/8 with 3/8poly. The bottom is bent to shit.

Its more cost effective? or give me more of a warm and fuzzy to get a custom hull made, and cheaper than buying a cookie cutter boat. BTW if I was that worried about rocks or logs, I would go with for 3/16, but would consider 1/4", with 1/8 sides. Yes that would be a 3 piece hull.
