Also in that picture it the bottom side of my rub rail isn't welded on yet, so it makes the sides look all fucked up... optical illusion lol

In theory the salty prick should float... we shall see... now I just need a trailer and a motor... once I get it in the water and ensure she's water tight... then I'll paint I think

I ripped my spare 2x2 long ways and added each half to the sides... once it was all said and done there was some minor "artistic" distortion... installing those braces on the sides really added a ton of rigidity... and pulled out any serious wooh, and from where I stand was kind of the finishing touch on what's looking to be a very sturdy boat... we shall see

What do you rip that long tube and the pipe with? You got a bandsaw and another set of hands?

A skilsaw with an aluminum blade (same tool I used for all the sheet metal cuts) and an iron set of forearms lol... and balls for that matter, I hate skil-sawing metal... it's kind of scary. But that non-ferrous blade does a really nice job.

 Re: New beginnings
I used a combo square to figure out center and just marked it with a sharpie on both sides the length... kind of obvious but that's a tool that can make a persons life a lot easier so I figure it's worth the shout-out

 Re: New beginnings
Be nice to weld some steel again... at home that is lol... I hate mig welding aluminum. But fabbin up some framing and new flat bunks for the trailer should be a fun little project now that the pleasure craft is almost done

Well got the trailer, for free... traded it for an older outboard that I got for free with a boat I bought long ago... so that's sweet. Going to need to fab up a new framing and bunks since it's currently just a hair too wide... but here she is in somewhat proper form. Going on the water to do leak test tomorrow and see how it performs. Really happy. The crew cab long box coupled with a 21 foot trailer has got to be around 40 foot OA... a train I tell ya

Boat ran great! Did held 30 without twitching across the lake in deep water. This was with a gtr with heads, cam and BPS Q... and about half a prop since my friend is gettin his other one back on Tuesday. Turned really well which is what my hope was with this design, and jumped onto plane. So now I need to get the trailer fixed up to fit the boat, paint the boat, and wait for my motor to be done and all will be well.

 Re: New beginnings
Man that is awesome!! Nice work! so did you cut the top edge of your boat sides to form the bow with a slight rise, or is it just a product of pulling in the sides?

 Re: New beginnings
Nope that's just a product of the angle of the sides, and the upwards travel once they begin to pull in

Ghetto ass trailer buildout... not yet sure if I want to get a slimmer axle, or build some platforms to stand on off of those ugly wings sticking out the sides... either way this will work for now.

 Re: New beginnings
Haha fuck yeah... I may just do that. Cutting and welding that axle tube isn't my concern, as much as the way the spindles are welded on on the end... my basic plan for now is to run er that way it is... and then sooner or later just buy a new axle, springs and shackles so everything is new... cuz all that running gear currently looks like shit, but will be run-able for the time being. And den some pimp aysss reeeeemzzzz

Of course I get the boat trailer and motor finally put together at the end of the weekend. If I don't get out this week, next weekend, it's on!

 Re: New beginnings
Hahahaha well hey nice to meet you, yesterday. As far as registering goes, you bring pictures of the build, and receipts for material. Then fill out a little form and pay the 50 bucks and you're set.

 Re: New beginnings
Haha seriously I would be the most efficient wild rice harvester. Not sure exactly, it's not much... I can take a measurement next time I'm out and about. When riding up on plane, there's about 1-2 inches below surface that the rear most of the boat rides... but this thing can turn like it's on rails which is what I was goin for... so I'm happy.

I have read that square chine doesn't usually turn as well as a round or tapered chine. do you think the narrowness or the length has anything to do with how well it handles?
