hack job by la sportsman magazine against mudmotors.
did anybody else read the hack job that author todd ''pawn of the ladwf'' masson wrote on page 16 of the april 2010 issue of the la sportsman magazine? basically what i get out of it is sum idiot named larry reynolds is all pissy cause sumbody started hunting 'his spot'' at the wax and just because they have a surface drive, now that is what's ruining duck season on the wma's. and because he is in cahoots with the cocksuckers at the ladwf, now we have thses paddle only areas on public land.
it's the same as blaming semiauto shotguns vs pumps for killing too many ducks.
IT'S A PEOPLE PROBLEM, MEANING A TOO MANY PEOPLE FIGHTING FOR THE FEW GOOD SPOTS THAT THERE ARE LEFT PROBLEM. it's that simple. people are gona use a better mousetrap, and that means more jo-bubbas are gonna use the wma's and hunt where u don't want them to be....next to you.
it's like blaming guns for killing people..... a gun never pulled it's own trigger, some defective person pulled the trigger. before guns people used rocks to kill each other. before surface drives there were go-devils, before that there were tunnel hull outboards and airoats.
and there has always been and will always be a bunch of arrogant haters like the ladwf, larry renolds, the todd masson, and the la. sportsman who do everyone a dis-service by printing ignorance and claiming it to be the truth.
btw, the article on catching and releaseing bass wasn't even worth wiping my ass with.

Maybe it's time to "hack" the sportsman then. Funny thing is that they sure do collect a lot of advertising funds from mm company's. Pro-Drive and Gator Tail both have full page ads.

Re: hack job by la sportsman magazine against mudmotors.
yep, gatortailis usually on page 10ish and pd is usually 10pages from the back of the mag. there are go-devil and mudbuddy, excell and gatortrax ads as well. if i were a mudmotor manufacturer, i would pull all ads and not sell boats/motors to the ladwf. of course, this won't happen, cause they would not want to lose the money. principles vs money is a bad thing for principle. this is not a good sign for mudmotors. smallminded people are gonna get them all banned just like they did with airboats. wait and see. the only reason i read it was cause my wife got me a subscription for christmas, i never would of spent a dime on that useless rag.

I thought some of the crap they pull up this way was bad. D@mn its every week it seems like they are pulling or tring to pull one over on y'all.. Whats the deal? Dont use your bow for red fish, Cant use your motor on land that you bought and help keep up. Hell sounds like before long y'all will only be able to shoot Coots during duck season from a paddle boat using blanks ...

Re: hack job by la sportsman magazine against mudmotors.
it's like the 14'' limit on bass in the basin.
all they did was screw many ordinary folks out of eating tons of 12-14'' bass just so sum guys with lots of patches on their shirts were trying to catch bigger fish. hasn't worked and won't work. kinda like the 4pt minimum on deer. the guys across the fence from the wma's luv it, they can shoot all the spikes they can eat. same goes with the tag system. i've never seen anyone tag a deer unless it was d-map, and then it was spotty at best.
anyway, every year u got more pressure on ducks, more people hunting, and more people looking for a plae to hunt. it will get crapier and crapier each year, especially with the shortstopping up north. 20 yrs ago when i started hunting at the wax there were birds rafting offshre. ain't nothing new, just more people pissed they aren't killing ducks.
go durring the week, lstay away from opening weekends, and u will do much better. most hunters know this already.
or just go to moussiri and get u sum quality duck hunts on their duckparks [wma's]. they know how to do it.
i'm still pissed about the white lake guided hunt i went on this past yr and i was letting a young man i brought with me shoot the ducks. well , the guide [state employee] was wanting to rush the hunt and asked if we would let sum of the other blind shoot sum of our ducks. THAT'S THE KIND OF SHIT I EXPECT FROM THE LADWF. what do u expext from people in power like capt cormier and remnants of cathleen blanco.

Re: hack job by la sportsman magazine against mudmotors.
All Bullchit aside....maybe we should ALL get together and write some nice little letters to the La. Sportsman expressing our feelings towards this matter. Also maybe we can talk to some of the advertisers and get them onboard with this and fight it from that level. Maybe if a couple hundred people threaten to cancel memberships along with advertisers pulling the plug maybe...just maybe they would re-evaluate their stance on this issue.

Re: hack job by la sportsman magazine against mudmotors.
This is just another example of how screwed up our government and it's agency's are. It's all about who you know and getting your own agenda passed without caring how it affects anyone else. What the " people" want doesn't matter anymore in this country. Same kinda crap happened here in Texas by putting a 1 per day limit on alligator gar with absolutely NO biological data what-so-ever. Maybe one day "we the people" will be able to vote on things like this . . . . Haha that'll be a cold day in hell.

Instead of taking it out on the magazine reporting info why not show up at the commission meeting on May 6th...it's not a done deal yet but will be next month if your opinions are not heard...

Re: hack job by la sportsman magazine against mudmotors.
Best part of this whole deal.... Tony Taylor and his wife, the 2 that run LA Sportsman and let that story make it in the magazine, have a Gator-Tail that there sons run all over salvador/timken wma. Its okay for them ride when and where they want, but my $17,000 Gator-Tail cant leave my driveway without me hearing CHIT from some bass fisherman who cant get to where I'm fishing or a duck hunter in a pirouge who cant get where I'm hunting. It was funny this past season when the water was so low that I was begged by 3 guys in 2 pirouges to pull them to there blind because the mud flat and lillies had them hemmed up.

Re: hack job by la sportsman magazine against mudmotors.
Oh!!!! By the way. I actually did not renew my subscription to the LA Sportsman about 2 years ago.
It is always the same stuff, with nothing very new or informative.
They have some cool pictures, with nice covers, but that is about it.
Same ole same ole.
When the spring time comes it will be "bream on fire here", or "bass and trout action hot over there".
Nothing really helpful for me. I broke ranks and didn't renew.

Re: hack job by la sportsman magazine against mudmotors.
JC, you hit the nail on the head.
And as far as LS mag not being useful, have you ever read Wildfowl?? They just take articles from past issues and mix em up. So you end up with the same chit in a different magazine. Some stuff is good but once you read it the first time its useless every other time... just my .02

Re: hack job by la sportsman magazine against mudmotors.
Some of you may have done this already, but we have been facing some of the same issues in Utah. There is a group of people that were trying to get parts (if not the whole) of some of our WMA's closed to motorized boats. So a few enlightened individuals got together and said 'THAT'S ENUF OF THIS SHIAT!'. They started the Utah Mud Motor Association (UMMA). We have done several organized marsh cleanups that were coordinated with the Division Of Wildlife Resources. Through these, and making sure we have strong representation at the council meetings we have managed to keep ALL of our resources. Also, we have had a blast with a couple of 'Mudfests' and fun shoots that had a good deal of company sponsorship. Here is the web address. http://utahmudmotor.com/

There are quite a few. They have a distributor (Go-Devil Of Utah) that is a big sponsor and they are at all of the events. They brought out a 20x56 with twin 23 surface drives on it. They let anyone that wanted to take it out for a spin and that thing is incredible!
