i have a 16ft v bottom Lund i am going to repower and not sure what to do, i have been duck hunitng out of this boat for over 15 years, and some times i wise i had a MM, so my question is putting a MM on a v bottom Lund boat, should it be a longtail or a surface drive? i have a 25hp mercury on it right now and would like to keep the same speed about 23 -25 mph any help would be great, what hp would i need to stay th same as what i have now Lenny

 Re: mud motor help
A 35/36 surface drive should keep you in that range of speed...maybe a tad faster. It will perform better on a smooth bottom built for a mud motor, but should be able to give you at least close to the same speed on that hull.
