 leveling kit
I am looking to level my 2011 Chevy 2500HD Dmax. I am looking for a kit that will level the front up with the back. What kit do you suggest? Thanks. Netman

 Re: leveling kit
Crank your keys up just a little bit, and get you a 2.5 to 3" Leveling kit for the front. Being that its a 3/4 ton it will be a little highier in the back and will require a pretty good sized level up front

 Re: leveling kit
I have always used ready lift leveling kits for my silverado, tahoe, and my f250. never had a complaint. 2.5 inch for a HD truck.

 Re: leveling kit
The 2500s still have torsion bars

 Re: leveling kit
if you want to do it right do this http://www.cognitomotorsports.com/produ ... .html#pos8your stock shocks and upper control arms are limiting factors in how much you can crank your torsion bars with factory or after market "leveling keys"

 Re: leveling kit
I got 2.5" keys from rough country and came up a lot but still sat unlevel on my 2500, so cranke keys half way and it sits perfect now and rides like it did stock

 Re: leveling kit
Main thing I was wondering is how the aftermarket keys affect ride quality. Has anyone had less than favorable results?

 Re: leveling kit
Just like mentioned before. All depends on how much you crank your torsion bars. The more you crank the stiffer your ride is gonna be and the more wear and tear on your front end parts.

 Re: leveling kit
Tightening Torsion bars will bring the bottom of the tires in and cause them to wear prematurely.

 Re: leveling kit
No shit, that's why I'm asking if the aftermarket keys will lessen that or is it just the same as cranking the stock torsion bars?

 Re: leveling kit
Thinking of doing the same for mine. Would an alignment take care of any issues with aftermarket keys?

 Re: leveling kit
Yes. Your cranking your bars regardless. After market keys may let you crank a little more than your oem ones. I know the 99-07 classic trucks you could put ford keys and crank more than your oem keys. Idk if it's the same with the 2500s.

 Re: leveling kit
some of yall have no clue and just need to shut up For gm trucks Ford keys can be used on OBS and NBS trucks. They are a higher indexed key from a 1997 to 2003 Ford F-150 that swap into the new 4wd trucks. They are for half ton trucks only. They can be found at any local ford dealer by asking for torsion adjusters or the part number is: (2) XL3Z5B328CA Here is a picture of a new Ford Torsion Key installed. Torsion Key Install: Ford Keys and new Torsion Bars are very easy to install yourself. You can use a 2 arm gear puller, some use a balljoint press, or a special torsion unloading tool that can be rented from a member here: http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78832Leveling Kits:In most cases they are the same thing in a different box. Don't spend money on ebay or from an off-road shop when you can get new keys for $60 from any dealership. 3/4 Ton Trucks: If you have a 2500 you don't want to use Ford Keys for your truck. They are not indexed correctly. Instead stock 1500 keys will get you more height in the front. "Green" Keys will also allow you to crank up higher. GM Part Number: #15592573 Adding different keys puts the same stress on the front end as cranking the stock keys. The different key has a different index which puts more load on the bar in the set position. Therefore with a stock key you may tighten the bolt 10 turns. with the aftermarket key it would put the rate of twist on the torsion bar the same as the factory one without the bolt tightened. Leveling kit vs tightening your keys: each affects the ride the same and will put more wear on your upper ball joints at increased angles. on 2007 and new trucks the upper control arms limit the droop the stock suspension can take when cranking the bars. when you do tighten the bars you have to get a alignment after.. it will kick the top of the tires out and make them off camber. you can adjust this at home if needed before going get a alignment by loosining the cam adjusters on the upper control arms.

 Re: leveling kit
Why level a 3/4 ton truck? Its that way so when you are pulling (what you do with a 3/4 ton), you ride more level.

 Re: leveling kit
I pull this boat and it's 30x10 and close to 10, 000#. My truck has no problem. The half tons hold there own these days for occasional heavy towing. Unless your towing all the time a 3/4 is not needed.
My 2 cents:mrgreen:uploadfromtaptalk1367805207245.jpg

 Re: leveling kit
I'm thinking about bringing it to Louisiana for duck season and either leaving it in Venice or trailering it back and forth to Venice from Prairieville to tow my mud boat down river. I've done the occasional pulling with my 1/2 ton, but just going from Mobile to Orange Beach is a headache and feels dangerous. I had a 3/4 ton before my current truck, and it was night and day difference. The boat weighs around 9,000 #'s, I believe, and is simply too much for a 1/2 ton to carry a long distance.

I can agree with that. It seems you do a lil more towing than the average guy.
