Someone posted y not just buy a gm, because of the motor and the Allison. I said because they don't offer a high gvwr. I don't drive a f350 r 250. I need the gvwr so I have a 550. It's a ton and a half. I've had every motor ford made since 1999 and had major trouble with all of them. 5.7 6.0 6.4 6.7
I would love to go to a gm but the gvwr isn't there

The compound turbos make for a pricey repair if you shred one. Like they have said save your self the headache and by a 7.3 or 6.7. There is a reason there is an abundance of them for sale and only made them a few years.

I had an 08 6.4..... HAD!!! High pressure pump out at 62,000...... Pull the cab!!! EGR out at 76,000. Injectors out at 100,000. Turbo out at 110,000....... Told them to keep it!!!

All I heard was how much better the 6.4 was than the 6.0......... The 6.0 must have been a royal POS!!!

^ lol that aint any better. I had an 03 and an 05 that ate injectors every few months. Any ford or dodge diesel pick up after 02 is no good. I went back to dodge this time and so far no problems but it only has 8500 miles on it. I only drive it when i am doing a job i drive my jeep as a daily driver.

Now on the other hand these new trucks have gobs more power. I put my dozer and rubber tire hoe both on this new truck and could pull it at 75mph @ 4mpg lol

my buddy does gas/diesel performance work and when i was lookin at 250s he said the 6.4 can be pretty quick but if ya get more than 125-150k out of it buy a powerball ticket!!! he said they built it with such tight tolerances theres little room for any error.. then, like most shit is nowdays, when they have a major malfunction its cheaper to replace than repair.

his advice was a 6.0l plus about $5k to bulletproof or the 6.7l plus about $2k to tune and delete DPF/eurea and EGR

Thats good we went thru a rash of junk 5.9s over here on this side of the river. Any dealership you went into the service area was loaded with them but of course Chrysler was not at fault. They claimed dirty fuel first so we went to 2 micron filters changed every 5k. Still had problems so then they blamed excessive idle time.

My 05 had 4 long blocks, 36 injectors, and 2 IPs done before 24k miles.

Found a guy in Dallas that tunes the new 6.7 fords so I'll be making a trip to do the DPF delete, delete urea, and egr delete soon, and put a nice tune on the truck
