Motor and boat?
We need to know what you are running to n ow what the mechanical causes could be.... BUT
Are you trimming up and down to find the sweet spot?
Depending on how high your boat planes, you may need to trim down to find the point that the prop starts slipping...

Are you taking off with the motor trimmed all the way down, mid way, or up? Depending on the attitude of the prop , once the bow breaks over plain and levels out, if you're trimmed too high, you may be getting some prop slip. Have you tried changing the trim while running to see if it resolves the problem? Running at a good speed, you should feel the prop grab when it finds it's sweet spot. From what you've given us, sounds like prop slippage. Cant rule out the clutch till we get more info tho.

Yes and for about 20 feet it feels like it wants to run out from under you then that power is gone no matter where I trim it to didn't know if it was supposed to be that way

Is the motor reving into higher rpm range when this occurs or is it staying constant? If its gaining revs but not gaining power, you could very likely be getting some clutch slippage. If it's staying constant with but has no power it could be your prop. How many rpms are you turning? What prop? What kind of shape is it in? Is it a 2 or 3 blade? Give us some measurements on it. If its a 2 blade, overall length from point to point and the width of the blades at their widest point. Is its a 3 blade, measure from ghe center of the hub out to the tip of one blade, then double that. Blade width measures the same. It could be you're trying to turn too big of a prop, which explains a good hole shot but no top end.

Another thought....if your clutch was slipping, I would think you would notice it more on your hole shot. That's when the clutch should be under the most torque. Sounds like its biting good at that point.

High revs, and low speed I would venture to say the prop is worn. Measure Tip to Tip.

Prop is pretty new will measure waiting on rpm gauge but sounds like it is prop. It's the big prop 2 blade

Pictures of hull? If you have pods on your boat that could be the problem. Or if it's hooked

If you're running a Big Blade that would be the first I've heard of a Mudbuddy 35 not being able to turn it. Still too many unknowns to be much help. Look at your prop and see if you can determine it's size and pitch. Should be etched into the hub and be something like 10p or 9p between the blades on one side. If it's a newer prop the blade points will still have some crisper edges. If its worn they'll be more rounded.

Without more info, my bet is on the trim being too high or a short transom motor on a tall transom boat...

prop is worn a little, not horrible. That is a short transom motor if i can see the sideways picture correctly. my question is what are those two things on the back of the transom, look like half pipe?

Is that pin with the hitch pin in it for your trim lock? If so, can it be moved further down toward the transom? If that is indeed your trim locking pin, it appears to be too high. Doesn't allow the lower unit to drop down enough, thus keeping the prop too high and not allowing it to get any bite. It is deep enough when starting out to get thrust, but as the boat plains out, the motor rises as well. Try moving it to a lower position if possible.

I see....sorry. My pin like that is for servicing only. Does the unit trim all the way down to the transom?

I would suggest trying a different prop if you can get your hands on a loaner. That will tell you quickly if its in the prop or elsewhere.

It should measure 16 inches, or on the mb hd the top clutch cover. The short has six bolts the tall has eight
