any idea how much a mud hull weighs? 1848? 1756?

.125 5052 aluminum. Pro-Drive, Gatortail, Phowler. Just the hull, no boxes, etc.

I just want a ballpark range of weights. Thanks in advance.

No boxes, seats, flotation. Just open front deck & floor. Roughly 400 would be my guess.

I was told my Phowler 1848 hull weighed 580#. The only option I have is a gun box. Does 580 lbs seem heavy for a typical mud rig?

I would say no. Most mud boats use thicker and sometimes a stronger aluminum for the added wear and tear than a standard mass produced boat. Gator Trax, for example uses .125" 5086 aluminum on the bottom while a Lowe would have .100" on a Roughneck and only .073 (5052 aluminum) on a standard jon.
