any of yall recognize this boat
Hey yall, im Michael from Baton Rouge. Ive been reading on this sight in research for buying a new boat. Decided on an outboard rig but love the sight because of all the local guys and fellow duck hunters. Yall definetly have the most info on custom built boats. With that said, I just bought this boat second hand and the previous owners weren't sure who built it. I know its not a mud rig but the last owner said the guy before him had a mud motor on it so I figured yall might recognize it. Hull is registered as a 1984. Little over 17', 60'' bottom. Last owner added the console, back deck, and motor. Heres some pics

Re: any of yall recognize this boat
There are so many boats built like these in garages all across south la. You'll probably never find out who built it.

Re: any of yall recognize this boat
Yeah i know. Figured it was a long shot. What yall think about it regardless? She runs almost 50, but you cant run that fast realistically cuz it starts bouncing real bad. Already bent the tabs down a little, idk what else to do to help it

Re: any of yall recognize this boat
The pods were definetly added after the boat was built. The welds on them are shit. Luckily theyre sealed off. What yall think about the porpoising? I can barely trim up an it starts hopping. cant hardly run over 45-5000rpms. Transom angle is good. So im thinking just too much weight in the back. Will a fin on the motor help? Maybe add some front weight? Has 2 batterys and toolbox in front already. Could the pods cause it? Theyre an inch off the bottom so i cant imagine

Re: any of yall recognize this boat
I put a stingray hydrofoil on my little outboard and it stopped all porpoising completely. Use to be I couldn't run the boat empty with just me in the back driving and it would bounce. Added the hydrofoil and I can put as much weight as I want back there and she wont bounce. Only thing it affected other than that was my turning. Can't turn in as tight of circles at high speeds or she will start to grab air. I think a good hydrofoil would be the fix to your problem

Re: any of yall recognize this boat
Might have been a jump boat, bottom is a lil beat up. Nothing serious tho. Maybe 1/8 deep hook in a spot or two. And i think the jackplate is in the right spot. All the way down, the cav plate is even with boat bottom. Someone added to the transom an made it tall as shit. Top bolt on the jackplate is 20in

Re: any of yall recognize this boat
Hydrofoil may help or a small set of tabs. The fin would be cheaper if it would work.

Re: any of yall recognize this boat
Should be turning 6000 with that motor you have some options on prop that may help with your issue also
