 Longtail won't stay under water
I just bought a 14' Grumman Jon boat with a 23 HP vanguard go devil longtail. It runs great, but the only problem is it is very difficult to keep the prop in the water, as it is constantly pushing up. It is on a 16" transom. Any tips or ideas to help?

Re: Longtail won't stay under water
Either to big of a prop or end of your cavitation plate needs to be bent up

I wouldn't even look at the prop being the culprit.... 99.9999% chance it's your cav plate.. When your bending it, a little goes a long way. Make 1/4" adjustments until you get it running right. A big crescent wrench will do the job.

Re: Longtail won't stay under water
Also, if you tune it to ride just under the water to go as shallow as possible before contacting the bottom with an empty boat, when you load that thing up and slow it down it changes the way the boat rides. I tuned mine with the boat empty, got it perfect! Then loaded the family and all the crap my pregnant wife and 2 year old son and the dogs and on and on and if I didn't keep a constant slight upward pressure on the tiller the prop would pop out of the water. Eventually I realized that it's much easier to tune it for the load I'll carry most and then just lean on it a bit when the boat is empty and I'm coming up on a shallow spot.
