Last sunday I sent an email to gator-tail and to at least 8 of their dealers asking a series of questions to decide on a XL series built with dual GT37EFI. Sincé I received no answer from any of the dealers nor from GT I sent a second email on tuesday and only one dealer replied saying they had to talk to GT and get back to me with the answers, still waiting. Had my asistant called GT and they gave me Bubba's email, sent him a message and told him I am overseas and it is easier for me to communicate via email, he replied asking me to call him, told him to please answered my questions first and then we could take it from there, that was yesterday, still no answer. I am fed up with this bad customer service and nobody replying to my emails.

another member is telling me to go with a custom build, I would like to ask all of you with experience which is the best custom build company and which has excellent customer service, who would answer my emails, etc. I really like pictures of one GT I saw and would like mine to look exactly like it, don't know if a custom build could replicate it and build me one exactly like that one?

I bought mine over the phone with Chad of Prodigy Boats and the boat was exactly what I was expecting and wanted. Excellent quality as far as I am concerned on the actual build and Chad has always answered any motor questions I have had after the fact.

Almost nobody is going to be real easy to communicate with via email. Nobody I know of anyway..other than Prodrive, and even they prefer a phone call usually.

The best custom builders out there are hard to get on the phone (at least the straight up "custom", "one man show" kinda guys with no dealer network). You are highly unlikely to get ahold of one through email.. Brother and Sportsmans fab would be at the top of my list for custom builds. A custom built hull can be way different than a gt or very similar. It's all in what you want, most of them will do just about anything you can dream up. The GT hull, for the most part, is going to be what you see on the website, and you can add the options you see on the website. They may do a little something extra for you, but are not likely to build "one-of" hulls for every customer that walks through the door... Custom is just that, custom (or should be anyway). If you want a heavier bottom, extra bracing, a new design for a hunt deck, trick gun box, etc...a custom builder will be much more likely to accommodate your every wish, but.....the best one's stay booked up and are hard to communicate with, at least until your build is paid for and likely still hard to communicate with until your hull is started. You usually become top priority once your build is started..

This I think is why they'd rather speak to you opposed to email. The options are endless these days especially with custom builders. Often times people don't truly know what they want until they've discussed it with their builder multiple times. I think prodigy would be a good choice as well. They say Chad is great to deal with and i plan to speak with him next year myself

I would say it's mostly tire kickers via email too...If not straight up tire kickers, people who are not ready just yet. Someone who's ready and knows what they want is more willing to pick up the phone and get the damn ball rolling...

Prodigy builds custom boats. He has a huge selection of "custom" options that you can add at will. You can go on Facebook and see hundreds of photos of his boats with a ton of detailed shots of the options added by each person. Go through the photos and make a list of the things you want and have him price it out on the hull size that you prefer. Add or subtract from the initial list until you have it how you want it.

Not sure what custom options you want or where you run your boat, but they will at least talk to you.

FYI-all the builders are going to be weeks (10? 12?) at this point... It is close to hunting season.

Buddy of mine ordered a GTR either end of June or first of July and was told 16-18 weeks.

This pisses me off, I hope nobody sells you a motor or a boat. You come on here bragging about killing 150 Teal while here we struggle to preserve the breeding population by setting limits. So keep your ass in Panama,

I agree in most cases the phone is the way to go. But occasionally email becomes necessary. Lime when a guy in Panama wants to drop 35k+ on a rig. Or when a deployed soldier wants to order a boat to be ready when he gets home. So you say a company gets to many emails to deal with and that's a valid excuse?
